Gregory E. Kersten is a professor and the Senior Concordia ResearchChair in Decision and Negotiation Systems in the J. Molson School of Businessat the Concordia University. Heholds a PhD degree in EconomicSciences and MSc degree in Econometrics from the Warsaw School of Economics(Poland). His research and teaching interests include individual and groupdecision-making, negotiation analysis, exchange mechanisms, auctions, decisionand negotiation support, web-based system development, experimental studies andbehavioral economics.
Hewas a founding member and the first Director of the Decision Analysis Lab(DAL), Carleton University, the first Director of the Information Systems andthe CIT at the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University, a memberof the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Computer Science, and the Director of theE-negotiation, media and transaction research program (2002-07). In 1996, heset up the InterNeg Group involved in on-line training and development ofe-negotiation systems. In 2005 this virtual organization became the theInterNeg Research Centre at Concordia University of which he was the first Director.He is member‐at‐large of the Collegio dei Docenti in the Mechanical Engineeringand Management Faculty at the Politechnico di Bari, Italy and a member of the Expert Panel on Engineering Management, Italian NationalAgency of Evaluation and Research of the University System.
Gregoryis the president of the INFORMS Group Decision and Negotiation Section and theEditor-in-Chief of the Springer-Nature Group Decision and Negotiation Journal. He was a visiting professor at the Politechnico di Bari, NavalPostgraduate School, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, theNational Sun-yat Sen University, a senior research scholar at the InternationalInstitute for Applied Systems Analysis in Austria, and the Paul Desmarais/PowerCorporation Professor at the University of Ottawa School of Management. He alsowas a visiting scientific advisor at the Institute of High PerformanceComputing, A*STAR and the chair of the Open Negotiation Environment AdvisoryBoard.
He isa co-author and editor of eight books and numerous journal articles and bookchapters. His research contributions have appeared,among others, in INFORMS Decision AnalysisJournal, Decision Support Systems; EJOR; ECRA; Electronic Markets; IEEEExpert; IEEE SMC; IISE Transactions; Expert Systems with Applications, Group Decision and Negotiation; IISE Transactions; Information andManagement; International Negotiations Journal;Journal of Multi-Criteria DecisionAnalysis; Management Science; Naval Logistic Research;Theory and Decision. In 2015, together with Shikui Wu, he obtained a patent for “A Multi-attributeAuctioning Method and System” (US Patent 8,965,793).
